James M. Deitch, Managing Director

James M. Deitch is co-founder and Managing Director of the American Home Bank James M. Deitch is co-founder and Managing Director of the American Home Bank division of First National Bank of Chester County.  He is the Chief Operating Officer of First National Bank of Chester County and a member of the boards of directors of First Chester County Corporation and First National Bank of Chester County.  Prior to the merger with First National Bank of Chester County on December 31, 2008, Mr. Deitch served as Chairman and CEO of American Home Bank, N.A. 

Previously, Deitch was Chairman, CEO and co-founder of Keystone National Bank and Keystone Financial Mortgage Corporation, and Executive Vice President of Keystone Financial, Inc. He also served as Chief Credit Policy Officer of Keystone Financial Bank. He joined Keystone in 1993 by founding Keystone Financial Mortgage Corporation. Keystone National Bank and Keystone Financial Mortgage were subsidiaries of Keystone Financial, Inc., a publicly traded bank holding company with $7 billion in assets that was acquired by M&T Bank.
Prior to Keystone, he was President, CEO and a director of Parent Federal Savings Bank from 1988 through Parent Federal’s acquisition by PNC Bank in October 1992. Mr. Deitch previously held managerial positions with International Signal & Control Group, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., and Arthur Andersen & Company.

Mr. Deitch holds a Masters of Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from Lehigh University, graduating with highest honors. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors from Lehigh University and is a Certified Public Accountant. 

Mr. Deitch served as Chairman of American Home Bank’s board, and currently serves on the Board of First Chester County Corporation, as well as its Strategic Planning Committee, and is a member of both the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Flinchbaugh Engineering, Inc.  He serves on the Mortgage Banker’s Association Residential/Single Family Board of Governors (RESBOG) and is co-founder and chairs the board of Hope International Global Finance (a micro-credit lending company). He is a member of American Institute of CPAs and the Mortgage Bankers Association.  He is active in non-profit organizations, including Hope International, Junior Achievement, Habitat for Humanity and the Susquehanna Valley Center for Public Policy.  

He is an active speaker and presented to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), NAHB’s International Builders’ Show (IBS), the Mortgage Banker’s Association of America, TEC International, Coldwell Banker and Century 21 national meetings, the Pennsylvania Land Title Association, Junior Achievement and various corporate clients.  He served as a CEO panelist for Chief Executive Magazine, Freddie Mac, A. T. Kearney, Duke University, and the Strategic Leadership Forum.  Mr. Deitch has participated as a civilian panelist for the ‘United States Army War College National Security Week’ and recently in the Marine Corps’ Business Executive Forum.  He has published numerous articles in industry publications including Mortgage Banking Magazine, Secondary Marketing Executive, Builder/Architect, and various other trade periodicals.  He is often quoted in American Banker, National Mortgage News and other publications.  He has also served as an expert witness in lending matters.

Anna Ruth (A. R.) Smith – President

AR Smith is co-founder and President of the American Home Bank

Ms. Smith is co-founder and President of the American Home Bank division of First National Bank of Chester County.  Prior to the merger with First National Bank of Chester County on December 31, 2008, Ms. Smith served as President and Chief Operating Officer of American Home Bank, N.A. 

She was named one of Pennsylvania’s Best 50 Women in Business for 2003. The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development presents this award. In March 2010, Ms. Smith was selected as one of Central PA's "Women of Influence"  as presented by the Central Penn Business Journal. She also received Central Penn Business Journal's "Forty Under 40" business award in 1998.  Ms. Smith is a graduate of Penn State University.

Prior to co-founding American Home Bank, Ms. Smith was a co-founder and served as President of Keystone Financial Mortgage Corporation, which was acquired by M&T Mortgage. During her career at Keystone, Ms. Smith was responsible for developing mortgage loan servicing strategies, implementing technology applications, managing retail banking operations and managing the Small Business Administration loan unit, which she grew into the largest SBA loan generation unit of its kind in Pennsylvania.

Ms. Smith frequently gives commentary to regional and national publications on various aspects of the mortgage industry and recently appeared as a guest columnist in Building Women Magazine, Summer 2008, with an article titled, “Managing Your Finances.”
